My name is Matsuoka and I’m a language lover.
Have you ever looked for “efficient language learning methods” ?
If you are looking for such a learning method, I might be able to help you, so please read this article only for 2 minutes.
I will introduce three of the methods of learning a language that I have developed and the learning methods of effective and innovative languages (actually I used).
1. Using Image and Excel
First is my favorite way to learn languages using ‘image’ and ‘excel’.
The learning effect is quite high!
Learn with an image (Capture Language as Language)
Our brain is good at memorizing something as an image rather than remembering something as a language.
For example, suppose you have the word Kaiwa.
Kaiwa means “Conversation” in English.
Rather than memorizing with only the language “Kaiwa = conversation”, it is much easier for people who remember “Kaiwa” as an image to remain in long-term memory!
※Switching to “Images permitted to reuse” due to the copyright relationship
Search Google “Conversation” and select images from the initial screen (all).
Then the image of “Conversation” is displayed.
Looking at the image “Conversation” is talking about something.
You can easily know that the word means to talk to someone, right?
I think that you can grasp the image of “Conversation” immediately.
In this way, learning a language as an image is perfect for viewing Language as Language!
Using Excel to review
When you grasp the image of Conversation, you will fill in “Excel” word, “pronunciation”, “image” “meaning” “example of use” “idiom” etc so that you can review it sometimes in the future.
I’m Japanese so it might be confused you a little bit.
Split your computer, display “RomajiDesu”, “English Translation” “image page” on the left half screen, and display Excel on the right half screen.
When you look at the picture above, the image is embedded in Excel, but if you use the “drag & drop function” of the personal computer, you don’t need to download the image and you can easily embed it in Excel.
In this way, you are able to remember things better because you can review it every time you open the Excel!
Of course, you can also enter phrases, not words.
Rather, the one who entered phrases rather than words is useful for real English conversation!
A PC or tablet is required for language learning method of “image and excel”.
However, if it’s just an image, you can use it well with smartphones!
2. Taking to yourself
The second is “talking to yourself”.
As far as I know, many people who can speak foreign languages fluently taking to oneself.
By taking to yourself, you can acquire the ability to assemble sentences and learn a sense of words from your mouth natullay.
If you do this. your speaking ability of language will dramatically grow up!
You can do this anywhere, regardless of time and place, on the bathroom, on the toilet, on the bed, in the stroll, on a bicycle, in the car, anywhere!
“How do I express this scene?”
When you think, first think about an expression by yourself, then search by Google and know the appropriate expression.
If you know that you only tweetly talk to yourself.
The point is to memorize the expression that you usually speak with your mind!
When you get used to soliloquy, you will make a delusion of situations.
It’s not a delusion of what seems to be anything.
While thinking about the scene of the conversation, you will play a conversation by yourself.
For example, In a workplace in the morning, you say “Good morning” to you and you say “good morning. How are you” to you.
And you say “I guess it is unclear. How about you?” and “Well. that is……” you say.
Like this, Just play the delusion of situations by yourself.
Speaking ability will definitely grow up!
3. Enjoy conversation between native speakers!
In the last way, you enjoy talking with native speakers from the perspective of a third party rather than enjoying a conversation with a native speaker.
How do that?
For example, suppose that “native speaker A” sent you “Hi! How are you?” on chat.
You copy the sent message and send “Hi! How are you” message to “native speaker B”.
Then “Native speaker B” will reply to you as “I’m fine. How do you do?”
Then copy the “Native Speaker B” message in the same way as in the first procedure and then reply to “Native Speaker A”.
As you repeat this, native speakers A and B are sending and receiving messages without knowing each other.
And from this conversation, you can learn real native conversation!
Actually, this language learning method was introduced in TED Talks “The Secrets of Learning a New Language”.
Here it is.
Lýdia Machová is a polyglot, and she is currently working on eight one.
What’s a problem?
The problem with this language learning method is whether having native speaker’s friends or not.
But, even if you don’t have a native speaker’s friend, if it is an online chat, you can easily connect with the native speakers.
There’re many apps to be able to have a conversation with them: “HelloTalk”, “temdem” and “wechat” and so on.
Since you can enjoy chatting for free, please try namely “Copy talk”.
It’s also good to check with them to see if expressions learned in language learning methods 1 and 2 are appropriate or actually usable.
At the end
As far as I know, those who can speak foreign languages fluently are enjoying language learning anyway.
Lýdia Machová, introduced in chapter 3 of the method of language learning, also answered “enjoying language learning” in response to the question “How do you learn a language?”.
In addition, she says that “There is no shortcut to language learning.”
I think that you often see advertisements saying “You can be fluent in a few days” or “you can learn a language in a week”.
If you think carefully it is extremely low as a possibility and if you learn a language in a short time, teaching materials for language learning are not overflowing to the world.
If it is true, everyone can speak any languages fluently nowadays.
There is no need to listen to such advertisements.
if you study language with fun and keep making an effort, you can learn a language naturally.
To know that there is no shortcut to language learning and to enjoy language a learning.
These are very important things in language learning.
Thank you for reading with me, today.
